From consultations to cutting-edge software, the Institute for Informatics (I²) offers an array of data-mining technologies. We provide these services and tools to faculty, researchers, students and professionals so that together we can answer some of the biggest questions in the healthcare and life sciences fields. I² services are also available to for-profit organizations on a charge-back basis.

REDCap
REDCap is a free, secure, web-based application that provides clinical study data capture and modeling. It is a self-service tool available for surveys as well as data acquisition, capture, and management.
MDClone
MDClone is a free, secure, self-service platform for building queries and downloading computationally derived (“synthetic”) data from I2’s research data core (RDC). Since the data do not contain protected health information (PHI), their use is not classified as human subject research.
CADR Data Sources
The Center for Administrative Data Research (CADR) provides leadership and training in the use of administrative data in epidemiologic, health services, and outcomes research.
Data Brokerage Services
I²’s data broker team collaborates with BJC Healthcare’s Center for Clinical Excellence to provide data brokerage services to BJC, WUSM, and external agencies.
Research Data Core Services
The Research Data Core is a comprehensive data warehouse designed to meet the clinical and translational research needs of WUSM and BJC researchers. Downstream systems include ACT, I2B2 and Shrine.
