The Light Fantastic: Moving Innovative Optical Medical Diagnostic Technologies from Concept to Marketplace

January 21, 2021, 4:00 pm — 4:45 pm

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, Precision Medicine Thursdays at Venture Café have moved to Zoom.

Join Zoom Meeting: Precision Medicine Thursday @ Venture Café – 1/21/2021

The Institute of Clinical and Translational Sciences (ICTS), in collaboration with Venture Café, is hosting Precision Medicine Series on the third Thursday of every month! This month at Precision Medicine Thursdays at Venture Café, join us to hear two researchers from Washington University McKelvey School of Engineering, Lan Yang, PhD, Edwin H. & Florence G. Skinner Professor of Electrical & Systems Engineering and Chao Zhou, PhD, Associate Professor of Biomedical Engineering. They will share their journeys from research concept to commercial product for their cutting-edge optical technologies for medical diagnosis.

Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is a widely used diagnostic imaging tool for eye diseases. Lan Yang‘s high-resolution, high-speed lightwave technology has resulted in an advanced diagnostic tool start-up. Chao Zhou‘s imaging technology produces in a 10-fold speed-up in high-definition 3D imaging of the human retina compared to current commercial technology.
